I cannot believe that it is already fall – wow where did the year go?! It’s time to start pulling out the cozy essential oils for diffusing all my favorite blends for cooler weather. It is slowly getting cooler here in the south; Indian Summer is in full swing! People are decorating for fall, even though we’re still using the A/C almost daily LOL. But, I am excited to be diffusing some cozy blends for the new season! I especially enjoy them on those cooler mornings, and the days when I get to open the windows and let in the cool fall breeze! And now I want to share with you my absolute favorite recipes and essential oils for diffusing in fall and winter!

Best Essential Oils for Diffusing in Fall and Winter:

Are you familiar with any of these essential oils? These are my favorite essential oils for diffusing in fall and winter! The combinations of these are endless, but I thought it would be helpful to put together some recipes for you to try! But before we get into the recipes, let’s look at the essential oils and a short and sweet little description of each one.

Spice Essential Oils:

  • Nutmeg essential oil has a spicy, sweet, and woody scent, similar to the spice but more fragrant. It promotes a calm and restful night’s sleep, and encourages dreaming. Nutmeg is uplifting and reviving, and may improve mental clarity and alertness.
  • Ginger essential oil has a spicy, warm, and earthy aroma. It stimulates physical energy, courage, and is mood uplifting. The aroma of ginger may help soothe nausea; specifically nausea from motion sickness.
  • Clove essential oil smells warm, spicy, slightly bitter; similar to true clove buds but richer. It is reviving and mentally stimulating, which may encourage mental clarity and memory. The vapors of clove can encourage sinus and breathing passages to open.
  • Cinnamon Bark essential oil gives a bright, peppery, spicy, and earthy, woody aroma. It is similar to the aroma of the spice, but much more potent. It is mood uplifting and physically reviving, which may help relieve fatigue.
  • Christmas Spirit is a lovely blend that will instantly make you think of the holiday season! It has a sweet cinnamon scent with a hint of orange and black spruce. This purifying blend encourages feelings of joy, peace, and happiness.
  • Thieves is a warm clove and cinnamon blend that smells warm and spicy. It is known as the defender blend as it works to cleanse and purify the air. Thieves gives off an aroma that feels warm and comforting.

Mint Essential Oils:

  • Peppermint essential oil smells cool, fresh, sharp, and minty. It creates an invigorating aroma in the air, which may boost energy levels. Peppermint may be clearing for stuffy sinuses when diffused. (To learn more about the benefits and uses of peppermint, visit my post here.)
  • Rosemary essential oil smells strong, herbaceous, with woodsy-evergreen undertones. It has been found to boost mental alertness and clarity. Tree Essential Oils:

  • Pine essential oil has a fresh, woody, earthy, and balsamic scent. It brings the fresh scent of pine trees into your home. Pine has a refreshing and uplifting aroma that is very grounding. Pine may improve mental clarity, alertness, and memory. The aroma is also good for encouraging healthy breathing.
  • Cedarwood essential oil gives a warm, soft, and woody aroma. It supports a calm, relaxed atmosphere and promotes restful sleep. The vapors of cedarwood may be beneficial for opening up sinus and breathing passages.
  • Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil has a fresh, sweet, and richly woodsy aroma. It is invigorating to the mind and body. The aroma of northern lights black spruce encourages feelings of balance and grounding.

Citrus Essential Oils:

  • Bergamot essential oil has a fresh, citrusy, with a hint of floral aroma. It is both uplifting and calming to the mind and spirit. When diffused, bergamot cleanses and purifies the air.

Bonus: Grab a bottle of Vanilla for some added sweetness! Yes, this vanilla smells like pure vanilla cooking extract! Sweet and vanilly.

6. Orange Spice

  • 4 drops orange essential oil

  • 1 drops nutmeg essential oil

7. Autumn Wreath

  • 2 drops orange essential oil
  • 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 2 drops clove essential oil
  • 2 drops lemon essential oil

8. Fall Breeze

  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 3 drops orange essential oil
  • 3 drops bergamot essential oil

9. Pumpkin Spice

  • 2 drops nutemeg essential oil

  • 3 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 2 drops clove essential oil

  • 2 drops cedarwood essential oil
