One of my favorite ways to use my sourdough starter is my easy sourdough pizza crust recipe. This is a more traditional style sourdough pizza crust recipe – not a discard recipe. Our family prefers this instead of the discard style sourdough crust, because it is not nearly as sour. If you are looking for a not so sour sourdough pizza crust recipe, then this may become your new favorite recipe!
To make this easy sourdough pizza crust recipe, you’ll need an active sourdough starter, flour, sugar, salt, oil, and your favorite toppings.
Tools Needed:
- Electric mixer (I use my KitchenAid)
- Large mixing bowl (I use this glass KitchenAid mixing bow.)
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Dough cutter or knife for cutting dough
- Rolling pin
- Pans for baking (It bakes best in a pre-heated cast iron pan.)
Ingredients Needed:
- 3 cups of active sourdough starter
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon cane sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive or avocado oil
- 2-3 cup of all-purpose flour
Easy Sourdough Pizza Crust Recipe:
1: Get 3 cups of sourdough starter active. (I do this at the beginning of my day, so it is ready for dinnertime.)
2: When you are ready to begin baking your sourdough pizza, measure out 3 cups of the active sourdough starter into a large mixing bowl.
3: To the measured sourdough starter, add 2 teaspoons of salt, 2 teaspoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of oil.
4: Mix with an electric mixer until completely combined.
5: Add 2 cups of all purpose flour and mix until combined.
6: Continue to add additional flour until desired consistency - a little at a time.
7: Allow to rest while you pre-heat oven and cast iron pan. (Remember to have your toppings ready.)
8: Once your cast iron pan is hot, roll out dough into the correct size and transfer it to the hot pan.
9: Add desired toppings.
10: Place into the oven and bake until desired doneness.
11: Remove from pan and allow to cool a bit before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
